Announcing the TWENTY FIRST ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the Borders Forest Trust. The meeting will be held at The Buccleuch Arms Hotel, St Boswells on Wednesday 2nd August at 6.30pm. The first 45 minutes of the meeting will be the AGM business, then we move on to coffees and our guest speaker. Both members and visitors are most welcome.
We are very pleased to have Clifton Bain joining us this year. Since graduating from Aberdeen University with an Honours Degree in Zoology, Clifton has gained over 30 years of experience working in conservation. He has enjoyed a long career as a policy officer for the RSPB and is currently the Director of the IUCN UK Peatland Programme. Combining an interest in nature and a love of hill-walking led to two books being published on ancient woodlands: ‘The Ancient Pinewoods of Scotland’ and ‘The Rainforests of Britain and Ireland’. These travel guides give an insight into human interactions that have shaped our woodlands over the millennia and encourage the reader to get out and experience some of nature’s finest days out. Clifton lives in his home city of Edinburgh and is currently travelling the country visiting peatlands in preparation for his next book.
