Conservation volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, get exercise in the great outdoors and meet new people. Volunteers form a vital part of our team helping us to achieve our vision of large scale habitat restoration in Southern Scotland.
We have a variety of volunteer activities to get involved with:
Led by the lovely Anna Craigen this runs every Tuesday. The group meets in Galashiels at 10am and heads off in a minibus to different Community Woodlands around the borders to complete a variety of conservation and woodland management tasks.
Carrifran Wildwood Volunteers
Our longest standing volunteer group which has been running for over 13 years, this group runs every Tuesday from 9.30 am to around 3.30pm. Led by Andy Wilson, tasks include lots of tree planting, care of trees and maintenance tasks.
Corehead Farm Volunteers
This group is in its 4th year and going strong. Led by Andy Wilson, volunteers go out every other Thursday from 10am to 3pm and contribute to a variety of tasks such a tree planting and works in the orchard.
Talla & Gameshope
A new group – which started in December 2017, led by Andy Wilson. It runs on the first Sunday of each month and gives the opportunity to contribute to this exciting project from its inception.
We run a number of volunteer weekends at our sites across the year, check out our events page to see what’s happening.
We are always on the look out for help with wildlife surveys and biological recording. If you have expertise in any particular groups and would like to record on our sites please get in touch. Likewise if you would like to learn, there may be opportunities to help with existing surveys.
